Every home needs a file cabinet. For taxes, kids papers, etc. Make a hanging file folder for Owners Manuals. Whenever you buy the latest Gizmo, put the manual there. And if your system fails, most manufacturers now have Owners Manuals online and you can download and save them to your computer in a digital version of your home file.

Organizing
You know how you can never find an extension cord? The power cord to the camera charger? The three prong to two prong adapter? Super idea: Hang a CLEAR PLASTIC shoe organizer  on the back of your basement door or closet door. Sort your extension cords and chargers. Take a piece of masking tape or a file folder label and MARK what the cord is for "Dad's Nikon Camera USB Cable". At your next party, some dude will see your organizer, and snicker that you are a type-a control freak. Until you need to charge up the camera, and you find the cord in 35 seconds. Then you're a rock star.
